Mixed media paintings by Elizabeth May
“Art is a tool by which society extends its perception.” – Arnold Glimcher, founder of Pace Gallery
Leslie Gould’s life-like graphite drawings, done during the pandemic, capture the inherent nobility that can be found in the faces of those who have endured hardship through illness or isolation. These everyday heroes are found amongst her neighbours, and community on the North Shore. Also included in the show are portrayals of the more recognizable heroes of our time.
Elizabeth May’s abstract expressionist paintings are inspired by the natural world. Her explorations start with the touch and feel of different artistic media. As an artist with limited verbal skills, Elizabeth wields colour and form to express herself and her experience of the world around her.
Admission to the gallery is by donation.
Meet the Artists: Saturday, April 29, 2 – 3 pm
Experiential Life Drawing Demo with Leslie Gould: Thursday, May 4, 6–8 p.m.
