Peter Tittenberger: Lure
to
C2 Centre for Craft 1-329 Cumberland Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 1T2
Peter Tittenberger, "lure," 2020
Opening Reception: September 4 at 5-9pm
The Manitoba Craft Council is pleased to present LURE, a solo exhibition of a new work in ceramics by Winnipeg artist Peter Tittenberger. His latest project follows a path that emerged from MCC’s Neurocraft in which Tittenberger was paired with neuroscientist Dr. Gilbert Kerouac to create work inspired by the brain. While the focus of that earlier work explored the role of the thalamus in fear and anxiety, this new series explores its opposite: desire. In this exhibition, Tittenberger investigates the lure – be it natural or manufactured, obvious or hidden – as a trigger for desire.
The MCC wishes to acknowledge the Canada Council for the Arts, the Manitoba Arts Council, and the Winnipeg Arts Council for their generous funding support. Thank you to MCC staffers Katrina Craig and Chelsey Thiessen for their work in coordinating and promoting this exhibition, and to Urbanink for catalogue design. Thank you to Chris Pancoe for curating this exhibition and for the beautiful catalogue illustrations, and to artist Peter Tittenberger for sharing his work with us.
