Dee Bailey, "At the Edge of the Middle on the Dempster Highway," 2019
oil-based modelling clay, 11" x 14"
This solo exhibition explores the flora and fauna of Yukon's Tombstone Territorial Park with comparisons made to Iceland scenery. Aiming to reconnect and re-interest viewers with nature, various pieces of these unique ecosystems will be showcased. All of the artwork is created using oil-based modelling clay resulting in sculptural paintings. The title of the exhibition comes from an old Gwichin translation of the Park's name. Sharing and learning from our Indigenous cultures was an important part of the July 2019 artist residency in Tombstone Park.
The opening reception occurs on Fri. Sep. 6/19 from 5-8pm. The artist will be also in attendance on Sep. 12 & 28 from 11am to 6pm.
