Imaginary Portraits explores the mysterious relationship between memory and creativity by reducing the figurative subject to pure forms of the imaginary, the fictional. The exhibition features oil stick drawings and abstract paintings by Pierre Coupey, and the pure white figurative plaster sculptures of Dion Kliner. Over the last few years, visiting each other’s studios, Coupey and Kliner have engaged in a dialogue about their respective practices. This collaborative exhibition extends their conversation and sets the stage for further dialogue on the intersections of drawing, painting, and sculpture.
