Postcards from Canada Invite
Please join us for the opening reception, which will be held in conjunction with our July First Thursday community arts event, Thursday, July 6th, 7-9pm.
In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, The Fort Gallery is hosting Postcards from Canada, an exhibit of original postcard-sized works of art from across Canada, June 28-July 16, 2017. Postcards will be physically hung in the gallery, and auctioned off online starting June 28th (http://www.fortgallery.ca/postcards-from-canada.html). All proceeds will be donated to Canadian Feed the Children First Nations Nutrition Program.
The gallery’s mailbox has been full to bursting in the last several weeks. We’ve received postcards from all corners of Canada; from Burns Lake, BC to Orillia, Ontario and Gatinau, Quebec. We’ve even received one from a Canadian artist living in Florida!
The Fort Gallery wishes to thank the Township of Langley for sponsorship of First Thursday community arts events.
On the first Thursday of each month, The Fort Gallery hosts a variety of visual artists, writers and poets, and musicians from the local community who share their gifts and creations. On July 6th, we are pleased to welcome musician Antoinette Libelt.
“This girl doesn’t need a microphone” is something singer/songwriter Antoinette has head many times. Growing up listening to artists like Michael Jackson and Aretha Franklin, she has emulated their soulful voices. Growing up in a musical family, music always surrounded Antoinette’s life. In her teens she picked up the guitar and began writing songs. From then on she has been performing every chance she gets. Antoinette graduated with a diploma in contemporary Music and Technology from Selkirk College in 2015 and she currently teaches voice and guitar at Bergthorson Music Academy and has plans to record an EP of original songs.
