THIS Gallery is thrilled to announce its grand reopening at a brand new location with (re)patterning, a collaborative exhibition by Vancouver-based artists Amanda Wood and Val Loewen. Marking the gallery’s first exhibition at its new location at the former Peanuts Gallery 108 East Broadway (alley), (re)patterning runs from June 20 to 28, 2025, with an opening reception on Saturday, June 21 from noon to 4 PM.
Emerging from a practice rooted in repetition, intuition, and material engagement, (re)patterning explores the generative possibilities of unmaking and reimagining. Wood and Loewen draw on their ongoing collaborative dialogue to examine the experience of otherness within normative culture. Their work centres on the power of coded and illegible texts—forms that resist easy interpretation—and proposes new ways of unknowing that invite divergence and multiplicity.
