"Reflecting the Golden Age of Danish Art" - Paintings by Ole Ring (Danish 1902-1972)
to
Uno Langmann Gallery 2117 Granville St, Vancouver, British Columbia V6H 3E9
Throughout the month of December Uno Langmann Limited will be hosting an exhibition of 20 fine paintings by Danish artist Ole Ring (b. 1902, d.1972).
Ole Ring primarily painted Danish landscapes from the areas close to his home towns of Roskilde, Koege, Prestoe, Ringsted and Copenhagen. One of the last of his generation to paint in the manner of the Golden Age of Danish Painting, his work exhibits the technical detail of the grand tradition of academic training and exquisite precision in perspective and use of colour. He depicts a northern light that is soft but allows for strong contrasts of colour, which enhances his ability to present the idealized landscape in an unpretentious and appealingly realist manner. Ring’s village paintings, as well as his elegant and sparsely-populated Copenhagen scenes are careful portraits of a distinctive Danish stillness.
Ring’s composition and rich expression of detail show strong influence from his father Laurits Andersen Ring, who was one of the foremost Danish painters at the turn of the early 20th century and pioneered both symbolism and social realism in Denmark.
Please join us for complimentary apple cider from December 9th – 24th.
