Robert Lemermeyer - RELIEF: A Transformative Journey Through the Rockies
The official public launch event takes place on October 2nd from 10:00am to 4:00pm, Robert Lemermeyer will be there in person to discuss his creation process and to answer questions.
Robert will also be running a photography workshop, please check our website for details in the coming weeks.
Calgary native Robert Lemermeyer started hiking in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. His drive to conquer these peaks was soon replaced by a deepening relationship with his son, Yuri, and a growing passion for nature photography. Robert discovered that time spent in nature was directly correlated with a positive boost to his mental health and wellbeing. With each scramble, the transformative power of nature was unlocked.
Relief: A Transformative Journey Through the Rockies is a new in-house exhibit that explores the magic of nature through a spectacular collection of images. Each photograph captures a special moment spent among the untamable majesty of the Rocky Mountains, accompanied by journal entries that offer a window into the artist’s physical and mental journey. Viewers are invited to slow down, take a breath and enjoy an immersive experience.
"This is the most meaningful and passionate work of my career and it is an absolute honour and privilege to be exhibited by the Bateman Gallery. I am so grateful for this incredible opportunity. It is my heartfelt wish to inspire people to get out into nature and let the healing, learning and transformation begin in their lives. It quite literally “saved” me for which I am so grateful.” Robert Lemermeyer
Erin Hilchie, Head of Exhibits and Collections at the Bateman Foundation, said:
“Being born in Alberta, the Rockies hold a special place - so I was already excited to create this exhibit with Robert. As the process unfolded, I became more and more interested in the connection between nature and our wellbeing and how I could translate this through an exhibit. This new nature and wellness movement is gaining momentum, and I hope that this exhibit will show just some of what nature can do for us.”
Photographs from the exhibit will be available for purchase, with the proceeds supporting the artist and the ongoing work of the Bateman Foundation to build relationships with nature.
