acrylic on canvas, 4.5’ x 6’
Opening reception Sept. 13th 5 - 9pm
While richly layered landscapes have traditionally defined my collection, my more recent work concentrates on the deconstruction of the prairie landscape. Strokes of vivid colour like an evening sunset splash across a canvas as wide as a prairie horizon.
My larger paintings stretch to over five metres in width, bringing the aura of prairie nature indoors.
My work has grown and changed over the years as I have, but not necessarily at the same rate. It floats in and out of flirtations with semi-realism and abstraction.
Both of these genres are important to my opus because they permit me, as well as the viewer, to input their feelings into the work. My work is an outpouring of the love that I have for the light, the texture and the movement of this beautiful living, breathing land that we are so fortunate to live on. The Canadian prairies offer us clean air, pristine skies and an ever-changing panorama of visuals. Each season is a beautiful force in itself and brings about a constant renewal of energy, hope, and for the visual artist, a palette of new colors.
We are truly fortunate to share the subtleties of such a powerful source.
