Jodi Miller: Science Meets Art

Jodi Miller's latest work references aerial photos and those taken while driving across the prairies, a tongue-in-cheek representation of the flatness of our landscape and our dependence on the land. The big skies are scaled to give a sense of the expansiveness of nature, contrasting with our impact on our environment shown in the calculated lines of fields and transitions. The patchwork fields are inspired by the stories of those who live on this harsh, exposed land, their struggles and resilience represented by the bold colours that layer and interact with one another, providing a reference to history and the passage of time. In this new collection, Jodi's background as an aerospace engineer merges with her passion as a painter. These pieces are a dialogue, representing our relationship with nature and connection to our environment.

Jodi Miller, who was born and raised on a family farm near Birch Hills, Saskatchewan, is an artist and was an aerospace engineer for twenty years in the military before she found her passion in art.
