Scot Bullick: Reboot Outpost - Open by Appointment Only

Scot Bullick, "Reboot Outpost," 2020
"As the digital age skulked into maturity, the rust on my tool chest lid became so polarized for closure that opening it was becoming unimaginable. Maybe "the google" could help with the oxidized hinge. The loss of manual dexterity would have to work itself out in the process. Mentally, the challenge presented itself as manageable, even lesser tasks deserved more attention, but as the goal grew distant, attention wandered and dedicated focus blurred. The receptacle remained steadfast in its resolve to keep inattentive gawkers out - especially if your name was engraved deeply on all the inhabitants.
These prize possessions of generations past, these mass produced manipulators of materials and ideas, entombed for an afterlife without ceremony or tears now demand to be reinstated in our everyday lives with the status of helpful agent and full social acceptance included. The digital age be dammed, we are rusting with irony over here like lemmings contemplating a newly discovered edge.
Hope is fading and these tools hold no merits in this cellphone society. No one will see the perimeter of corrosion falling to the floor as a call for help. No one will acknowledge the losses as they forget about lost skills and techniques which evaporate continually. Worst of all, no one knows how to open the lid without using the tools inside.
Time for a outpost reboot." - Scot Bullick
