Six New Exhibitions

The Gallery at Casa presents six new exhibitions November 19, 2021 until January 15, 2022. The galleries will be open during Christmas at Casa followed by an opening event on Saturday night celebrating the artists and open to the public. These intriguing exhibitions will run through the holiday season and into the new year. Make visiting The Gallery a new tradition for the family.
In the Main Gallery, Between the Sidewalk and the Horizon is an ongoing series of drawings, photographs and etchings that explore residential housing construction, memory and home by Kellen Spencer. These artworks are provocative and ask more questions than are resolved. As viewers, we question notions of home and stability while exploring the show.
Also in the Main Gallery, Petra Malá Miller is exhibiting a series of photographs entitled Living in the Zone that explore the emergency evacuation zone surrounding Dukovany nuclear power station in Moravia.
The Passage Gallery is displaying Sky Palace with paintings by Craig Talbot imagine a fictional, utopian future where humanity lives in harmony. In the Project Space, Leah C. Koutroumanos’ watercolour Diary of Earthly Things renders household objects divorced from a household setting. Each object was meticulously painted during the pandemic to keep the artist grounded in the present.
In the second floor Concourse Gallery, (re) READ indigenous narratives are explored by Don Ahnaahnsisi McIntyre superimposes western legal jargon with traditional iconography and asks the viewer to comprehend meaning in an act of reconciliation.
The Concourse Showcase Data and Dirt sculptures by Sandra Cowan explore the spirit of a place by incorporating human mediated data, clay and soil into physical objects.
Please join us for our opening celebration Saturday, November 20 at 7:00pm following Christmas at Casa. We encourage the public to attend and celebrate these exhibitions and our local artists. Casa is a participant in the Restrictions Exemption Program (REP) and proof of vaccination will be required to attend.
