SNAP at 40: Anniversary Showcase, 2022
This year marks 40 years of community-building, printmaking experimentation, and artistic excellence at SNAP. Since 1982, our printshop members and renters have donated over a thousand creative works to SNAP’s archive. To celebrate this milestone, we’ve selected a variety of prints that showcase prolific skills, methods, and techniques explored at SNAP throughout our 40 years of operation. This exhibition is a glimpse into the breadth of this archive — a jumping-off point for one to reflect on SNAP’s long history of printmaking and community in Edmonton. Additionally, the 40th Anniversary Portfolio, featuring new work by 40 artists will be available to view and purchase at the exhibition.
In addition, the exhibition will feature the Future Forwards project. Future Forwards looks toward emerging and prominent Black artists in the Edmonton, Montréal, and Toronto communities to showcase diverse perspectives and exemplary skill. SNAP has commissioned four new limited edition prints by artists Anna Jane McIntyre, Braxton Garneau, Raneece Buddan, and Khadijah Morley as part of this great new project. The Future Forwards prints will be available to view and purchase at the SNAP at 40: Anniversary Showcase Exhibition.
Opening Reception (ticketed event): August 12
