The opening night is Thursday August 29th from 5-9pm at the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre. Come to meet the artist!
"Experiencing the sublimity of the mountains and participating in mind-expanding activities which engage the body and free the mind are the foundation of my work. ‘Soul Quench’ is about the elevated sense of consciousness that I experience in the natural world.
My exhibit is a collection of moments translated into a large body of landscape paintings. Each piece will highlight nature’s intricacies with a bold palette, smooth colour blending and the use of both painterly & concise brushstrokes. Through layers of aerosol & acrylic paint, I intend to transport the viewer on intimate and grand scales into the stunning scenery of our valley.
Painting allows me to leap the barriers of language and share the abundance of inspiration I feel when immersed in nature. Continuously exploring new processes, techniques and mediums, I aim not only for my paintings to be aesthetically pleasing, but also to draw attention to the beautiful details in life that are often overlooked. Such is the personal angst of the artist in the struggle to find that bond between such profound beauty and the limitations of the creative experience."
