“/stāj/ 3.0” presents a space where food scraps become sculpture, and where knowledge is reimagined through collaboration and play.
In the third season of its pop-up programming, Fort Gallery is excited to present an experimental, living installation that transforms the historic Community Hall’s former library space into a hybrid kitchen-studio-science research lab.
Rooted in cross-disciplinary thinking, Gwenyth Chao’s practice challenges traditional systems of knowledge by exploring how material processes and methodologies can disrupt colonial frameworks of creation and understanding.
As an interactive installation, /stāj/ 3.0 invites the public to step into the role of researcher, engaging in acts of cooking, art-making, and scientific experimentation. Visitors will be encouraged to draw from their own lived experiences, collaborating with the artist and each other to challenge binaries between scientific “objectivity” and other less valued ways of knowing.
/stāj/ 3.0 runs from September 5 - 14 at Fort Langley Community Hall, 9167 Glover Road, Langley Twp, BC. Gwenyth Chao’s exhibition will be activated by a series of events throughout the ten day run. All events are free and open to the public.
