Terhpi Thâkthâja: Stoney Nakoda, Catharine Whyte and her Museum
Stoney Nakoda storytellers explore a museum that holds many artifacts that once belonged to their ancestors. The museum's founder was often called a "friend" of the Indians: what did that mean then? What does it mean today?
Made by members of the Nakoda AV Club, a traditional Îethka storytelling society, this film was a collaborative effort. It was overseen by Giona Smalleyes, Chey Suwâtâgâ Mu, and Jarret Twoyoungmen, all filmmakers from the Nakoda Nation at Mînîthnî. The filmmakers used archives, the museum collections, and interviews with community members and staff to find the story. They filmed exhibits, art projects, and programs at the museum over a period of five years.
