Artist reception at Happenings #10 on the Mezzanine Level of Arts Commons on Monday, November 27 from 6-9 pm
Super Impose repurposes the Lightbox Studio into a generator and launching point for visual artist Mary G N to create projects and printed matter designed to expose the world as queer and unclear. Zines, posters, and handouts will be produced in Lightbox Studio with manipulated printers to create an installation about the dynamics of viewership and everything taken for granted.
“Cities are hubs of queer activity and the gathering of so many differentiated bodies is thought to warp seemingly normative spaces into impenetrable alternative lifestyle zones,” says Mary G N. “The truth, that queerness in the life and landscape of the city is permanent, structural, and multi-faceted is a bracing one for those who consider themselves outside the paradigm.”
The Lightbox Studio at Arts Commons is an experimental studio and exhibition space that promotes studio-based projects, running in two month intervals.
