CAETANI TRAVELOGUE: A PHOTOGRAPHIC JOURNEY
Wednesday, January 29, 2020, 7 – 9 pm Tickets: $10.00 – A Fundraiser for the Caetani Heritage Display
Journey over a millennia back in time through the misty past, to explore the ancestral lands and holdings of the aristocratic and influential Caetani family. Stretching from 8th century Italy to the present, their epic story eventually connects to our own small Okanagan town of Vernon, BC in the early 20th century.
Caetani Centre’s Executive Director Susan Brandoli travelled to Italy this past June and spent time traversing many of the historic Caetani properties. While staying in the 13th century Castello Caetani, walking the cobbled streets of Sermoneta (one of the best preserved Medieval towns in all of Italy), and meeting with representatives of the four remaining Italian Caetani foundations in Rome and Latina, Brandoli created a photographic documentation of her travels. Featuring art, architecture, travel, history, heritage and more!
Explore the wetlands of the Pontine Marshes, ancient Roman ruins, and the famous Gardens of Ninfa. From the hilltop fortress of Sermoneta and other Caetani strongholds, to spectacular Mediterranean villas and parklands, the Caetani family was one of the most prominent historic Italian families, counting popes, statesmen, scholars, musicians and artists among its members.
Join us for an illustrated evening of colourful history, dark curses, illuminating travel and high adventure!
Tickets are $10 each, and are available online at www.caetani.org or call the Caetani office at 250-275-1525. Space is limited so we suggest booking your ticket ahead of the event.
All proceeds to assist with funding the Caetani Heritage Display set to open summer 2020!
