The experience of pain is a semiotic quandary. Despite its seeming universality, we lack the ability to truly communicate this phenomenon, as it is altogether interior and abstract. In this new body of work, Abbotsford artist Tara-Lynn Kozma-Perrin denies figuration as she grapples with the representational relationship between chronic pain and expressive forms of communication.  Works in sound, video, text and wall painting trace the arc of Kozma-Perrin’s personal journey as she recalibrates her new bodily, interpersonal, and psychological realities.
