Textile Takes Invitation

Please join us for the opening reception to meet the artists and enjoy our First Thursday - a free public music event held at the gallery on September 7th, 7-9 pm.

The Fort Gallery is pleased to host its first group show exploring contemporary art tex-tiles and fibre sculptures. All the works included in this exhibition are constructed out of some form of textile; however the pieces vary greatly in content, scope and execution. These textile artists employ diverse techniques such as: weaving, crocheting, knitting, felting, burning and stitching, as well as printing and dyeing. Organic and recycled materials are mixed with other media to create textile expressions that emerge as wall hangings, sculpture and works integrated with natural forms.
