Project Description
Urban Shaman Contemporary Aboriginal Art Gallery is producing a special initiative on May 6 & 7, 2016 to celebrate the organization’s 20th year milestone. US began in 1996 as a tiny Indigenous-led arts initiative in Winnipeg’s Exchange District. Since that time, it has evolved into one of three prominent Indigenous artist-run centres in Canada, serving as a key voice in the regional, national and international discourse surrounding contemporary Aboriginal art.
“The Shaman” has become stronger and brighter with each year, with 2016 representing a significant 20-year milestone in the organization’s history. US ‘s 20th Anniversary celebrations include a group exhibition at Urban Shaman Gallery, a two-day symposium and our first, exciting gala event. Please see our website for more information.
