Established in 2016, the Philip B. Lind Emerging Artist Prize is awarded annually to an emerging BC-based artist working in mediums of film, photography, or video. Artists are nominated for the prize by staff and faculty from established arts institutions, organisations, and post-secondary programs from across the province.
A jury consisting of art critic Robin Laurence, Victoria Arts Council executive director Kegan McFadden, and curator Pablo de Ocampo selected finalists from over 60 longlisted portfolios. On Wednesday, February 12, the winner of the Philip B. Lind Emerging Artist Prize will be announced at an Opening Reception and Award Ceremony, and will receive a $5,000 prize towards producing a new project, to be featured at The Polygon Gallery in 2021.
The Philip B. Lind Emerging Artist Prize is made possible through a generous donation from Rogers Communications, in honour of Phil Lind’s commitment to the company and the communications industry over the course of 40 years.
