PLATFORM is excited to welcome students from the University of Manitoba School of Art for The Photograph Unclassifiable, a senior student group exhibition. Please join us at the opening reception, 31 March, 7:00–10:00 p.m. and come see great work from the next wave of Winnipeg artists.

ABOUT THE SHOWThe Photograph Unclassifiable demonstrates a breadth of outcomes possible when working within expanded notions of photography. The artists in this show resist medium-specificity by combining photo with text or sculpture, transferring photo onto painting substrates, or presenting photorealistic drawing in a photo context. In many cases the photo, whether taken or collected by the artist through screen capture or image search, is merely the starting point to be processed digitally or through material manipulation. These actions and alternations are made in a considered way that supports content-rich artwork that is self-reflective and often narrative.
