Living in rural Alberta gives Lorelei Boyce an inspired daily blank canvas to work with. She is influenced by the colour and the understated nature of the prairie landscape. Many of Lorelei's paintings are long and horizontal; a concert of land and sky, where as homesteads play a part, but they are modest markers in comparison to the expansive surroundings.

Melanie Figueroa's work expresses themes of comfort and nostalgia within our modern society. Capturing the feeling of home and community, she looks for small, intimate, sometimes overseen moments in the city; the weathered fences, back alleys, powerlines, utility boxes, sign posts and urban greenery. Working with acrylic paints and a bold colour palette, Melanie creates little snapshots of distinctive urban moments.

For Sharon Lynn Williams, the excitement of working from chaos to order is invigorating and creates a dialogue between the work and the artist. Working with bold colour, line and texture, her work is informed by the landscapes she paints using the “plein air” process. When painting outdoors, the artist must contend with the elements, whether it be light, time, or the weather to capture a moment.
