Tom Gale, "Birches – Bunchberry Meadows"
oil on canvas, 36x36". Courtesy of the Gallery.
Landscape painter, Tom Gale garners inspiration from the land to make paintings that come from a deep well of talent and experience.
Gale's work has changed in the last few years. His work has become looser and less concerned with structure, which creates more of a dialog between the work and viewer. There is more room for the viewer to interpret the work.
Tom Gale was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1947. Tom Gale is a western Canadian artist residing and working from Edmonton. Described by the late Edmonton reviewer/critic Gilbert Bouchard as ‘probably Alberta’s finest landscape painter’, Tom Gale has been painting for 40 years, the last 25 in Edmonton.
Tom’s work can be found in the collection of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, in corporate collections such as Canadian Utilities Ltd, Toronto Dominion Art Collection and ATCO Electric, as well as in many private collections.
