AGA Members are invited to the opening of Turbulent Landings: The NGC 2017 Canadian Biennial. Please join us as we celebrate the new works of Canadian and International artists presented in conjunction with the National Gallery of Canada's 2017 Canadian Biennial. 

Turbulent Landings is presented in conjunction with of the National Gallery of Canada’s 2017 Canadian Biennial, which opens in Ottawa on October 19. 

Turbulent Landings examines subjects and themes addressed by renowned Canadian, indigenous and international artists that reflect on issues of great consequence, from migration and the environment, to the effects of globalization and the tragic legacies of colonialism. Turbulent Landings features recent work by: John Akomfrah, Shuvinai Ashoona, Rebecca Belmore, Mark Bradford, Beau Dick, Julie Mehretu, John Noestheden, Chris Ofili, Edward Poitras, Kelly Richardson, Wael Shawky and Hajra Waheed.

Turbulent Landings: The NGC 2017 Canadian Biennial has been organized by the National Gallery of Canada and the Art Gallery of Alberta as part of the NGC@AGA exhibition series and is co-curated by Catherine Crowston (Executive Director/Chief Curator, AGA), Jonathan Shaughnessy (Associate Curator of Contemporary Art, NGC) and Josée Drouin-Brisebois (Senior Curator of Contemporary Art, NGC).
