In advance of the opening of the exhibition Guo Pei: Couture Beyond, join Vancouver Art Gallery for a conversation with artist and designer Guo Pei, facilitated by fashion journalist Bronwyn Cosgrave.
Rife with symbolism, Guo Pei's exquisite oeuvre of immaculately crafted masterpieces evoke the decadence of China's historical dynasties and have secured her a place amongst the world's premier fashion designers. Revered for combining China's rich aesthetic tradition with contemporary sensibilities, she is the only Chinese designer who has been invited to join Paris' prestigious Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture.
Presented in both English and Mandarin, the discussion will illuminate how Guo Pei uses the medium of fashion to revivify tradition through a contemporary lens.
