VIVIANEART is proud to present a print exhibition of works by Internationally acclaimed South African artist, William Kentridge. The result of a collaboration between VIVIANEART, Jillian Ross Print and David Krut Workshop, this project brings Kentridge’s exceptional print works into our Calgary gallery.
Kentridge considers printmaking of particular importance in his art making practice. Having been a printmaker first, he uses the processes unique to the medium to think through and develop ideas for future drawings, films, and theatre productions. Working with long-time collaborator and Master Printer, Jillian Ross, he focuses on continued experimentation with different artistic approaches and content.
William Kentridge is one of the world’s most prolific and well recognized living artists. Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Kentridge witnessed the ramifications of both the reign and dissolution of the oppressive Apartheid regime. These experiences continue to influence his politically and socially critical practice.
Artist Talk: October 23 Master Printer Jillian Ross will speak to the process and content of the Lampedusa woodcut as she assembles the 28 sheets that make up this image. Time slots open for registration:
