Yulin Wang, " Infinite Legacy #2 - Qianlong Iron Red Famille Rose Platter with Floral Design," 2018
oil on canvas
Beautifully rendered and deeply contemplative, these remarkable new paintings from Medicine Hat artist Yulin Wang are the result of his meticulous observation of Ming and Qing Dynasty ceramic and bronze antiquities from his own collection. Working on each canvas for a month on average, Wang comments that the extreme focus required by his painting process becomes meditative in nature, allowing him to consider the deep and rich past of each object, and feel a connection with the masters who created them.
Yulin Wang is a faculty instructor in the Visual Communications department at Medicine Hat College, teaching graphic design and art since 1999. He received his BFA from Nanjing College of Arts in China in 1988.
