Much of the world will have its eyes on Canada's Bow Valley during the G7 this month — but there's more going on than global politics in the region this month. Stop in to see painter Pascale Ouellet’s new exhibition, Past/Futures, on view June 7 to July 5, 2025 at Concourse by Elevation Gallery in Canmore, Alta.
“She is perpetually reconceptualizing ways to express her dedication to preserving the place that we live,” says gallery owner Cheryl Baxter, who notes that the new show is a “statement about tourism, and ‘loving beautiful places to death’.”
Now based in Canmore, Ouellet holds a diploma in fine arts and communications from the Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf in Montreal. She moved to Alberta in 2002. Her work is found in collections around the world, including four public art commissions from the Town of Canmore. She was a 2015 artist-in-residence with the TRACS program on Fogo Island in Newfoundland. ■
Pascale Ouellet, Past/Futures, is on view June 7 to July 5 at Elevation Gallery in Canmore, Alta.
