Art Gallery of Alberta Names New Co-Chairs
Peggy Garritty and Sheila O’Brien have been named as the new board co-chairs of the Art Gallery of Alberta in Edmonton.
Last year Garritty completed a four-year term as chancellor of the University of Alberta; the university recently presented her with an honorary doctorate for her contributions to the community.
A Member of the Order of Canada, O’Brien becomes the first board chair in the gallery's history to be based in Calgary. Her lengthy career spans corporate leadership, governance and community service across Canada, including the Human Rights Commission.
In naming the new board co-chairs, the gallery thanked Leon Zupan for his many years of contributions. He served six years on the AGA board before becoming the chair in 2020.
