Dion Smith-Dokkie Named 2025 PLATFORM Photography Award Winner
Alberta artist Dion Smith-Dokkie is the winner of the 2025 PLATFORM Photography Award.
From West Moberly First Nations, Smith-Dokkie lives in the Peace Region of northwest Alberta, where he grew up. He holds a master of fine arts in visual arts from the University of British Columbia, as well as degrees from Concordia University and the University of Victoria. He was part of the inaugural Lind Biennial at the Polygon Gallery in Vancouver and he has also had recent shows at Wil Aballe, SUM Gallery, the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie and The Bows.
Supported by the Manitoba Arts Council, the award includes $4,000 plus a year of darkroom and digital workspace access, support from PLATFORM staff, a one-year membership to PLATFORM and travel support.
Smith-Dokkie's works, created during this time, will debut in PLATFORM's Gallery 2 in March 2026.
