Glenbow in Calgary has announced it has received a $5 million donation from Al Osten to support a new theatre in the JR Shaw Centre for Arts & Culture, where the Glenbow is located.
The 150-seat theatre will be named for Osten and his late partner, Buddy Victor, who met in the 1950s as part of the doo-wop group The Rover Boys. They were together for more than 65 years, until Victor died in 2023.
The theatre will offer a range of inclusive and accessible programming, including artist talks. It will be available for community bookings when the museum reopens following its renovation, which is currently underway.
