Glenbow has received “a $1 million gift from the RBC Foundation as part of RBC’s new Community Infrastructure Fund,” according to a news release this week.
“Specifically designated for accessibility, this gift supports Glenbow’s efforts to accommodate and welcome visitors with a wide range of physical, cognitive, and sensory needs.”
Created in 2024, the RBC Foundation Community Infrastructure Fund was founded to help community spaces pay for retrofits, repairs and upgrades, while improving accessibility and increasing environmental sustainability.
The RBC Foundation funding comes on the heels of an announcement that Glenbow is also set to receive a $2.5 million investment from the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Canada Cultural Spaces Fund. It is designed to support Glenbow’s new visible storage, which will showcase Western Canada's largest public art collection. The federal investment will also go toward the development of exhibitions highlighting Glenbow's more than 250,000 artworks, objects and cultural artifacts.
