Jenie Gao Named Executive Director of Centre A
Jenie Gao has been named as the new executive director of Centre A in Vancouver.
They will work closely with Diane Hau Yu Wong, the gallery’s artistic director, to strengthen Centre A’s role as a space for contemporary Asian art and culture.
According to the news release, Gao has run an anti-gentrification arts business since 2014 and consults “for cultural organizations and the public sector on equitable best practices, community engagement ethics, and organizational transformation.”
Gao holds a bachelor of fine arts in printmaking and drawing from Washington University as well as a master of fine arts from Emily Carr University of Art + Design. they have exhibited at galleries including the Museum of Wisconsin Art, South Bend Museum of Art and Trout Museum of Art. Their work is found in more than 40 permanent collections including Stanford University, Princeton University, Library of Congress, and Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. Jenie is a TEDx Madison speaker.
