Jessica Whitford has been named as the new executive director of Medalta in the Historic Clay District, Medicine Hat, Alta.

She takes over the role July 21, 2025.

Born and raised in Medicine Hat, Whitford holds a bachelor of arts in dance from the University of Calgary and an MBA from York University in Toronto, as well as a diploma in non-profit management and leadership. She has worked in a variety of arts roles in Canada and internationally, including managing director of Toronto Dance Theatre and chair of the board of directors for Hub14.

An Alberta Provincial Historic Resource, the Medalta facilities date back to 1886 and are believed to be the oldest industrial site in Alberta.
