New Public Gallery to Open in Calgary
The Alberta Foundation for the Arts is opening a new gallery, AFA's art house, in the Edison gallery space in downtown Calgary.
The new gallery, which will hold a grand opening on Sept. 10, 2025, will be dedicated to showing work from Alberta artists and from the AFA Art Collection.
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith will be in attendance, as will the AFA Chair Cynthia Moore.
The Edison was most recently home to pop-up shows from the Glenbow, which is closed for extensive renovations and expansions until 2026.
The AFA Art Collection was created in 1972 to represent Alberta's visual art community's history, development and achievements.
