Sarah Stanners has been named as the new executive director and chief curator of the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery in Waterloo, Ont.
She will assume the position Aug. 1, 2025.
Stanners holds a doctorate degree from the University of Toronto, where she is now an adjunct professor in the Department of Art History as well as director of the Jack Bush Raisonné Project. She has held senior leadership roles at arts institutions across Canada, including Director, Curatorial & Collections and Chief Curator at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.
As the Jack Bush Raisonné Project Director, she catalogued 1,850 paintings of one of Canada’s best known contemporary artists; it was published in 2024 as a four-volume set. Earlier this year, the Art Libraries Society of North America presented Stanners with the Melva J. Dwyer Award for excellence for her work on the Jack Bush project.
Denis Longchamps, the outgoing Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery executive director, is stepping back to make time for other pursuits including art consulting, curation and art appraisal. He has held the executive director role since 2018.
