23rd Annual Gabriola Island Studio Tour, 2019

On your list of where to explore this fall, be sure to include the 23rd Annual Gabriola Studio Tour. Over the three days of the Thanksgiving weekend, some of the most collectable and unique artists in B.C. open their studios on Gabriola Island.

Ninety-seven Gabriolan artists in eighty-two studios will host thousands of visitors. With twenty seven new artists on the tour this year, the Annual Studio Tour on the “Isle of the Arts” highlights the cultural, social, and economic importance of art and creativity on the west coast while showcasing extraordinary and exciting works of art. Many Gabriola Tour artists also show and sell their work across Canada and around the world.

At this self-guided event, visitors choose the artists they wish to visit. At many of the studios, artists will be at work demonstrating their techniques. Visit studiotour.artsgabriola.ca for a complete list of artists and studios, and to download a detailed Tour map.

The Studio Tour has been a huge success since its inception in 1997. Gabriola boasts the sixth highest concentration of artists in the workforce in Canada and every year more artists move to the island.

From art for your wall to art for your hand, the Gabriola Studio Tour includes artists working in many media: ceramics, glass, photography, acrylics, watercolour, silversmithing, jewellery, illustration, basketry, leatherwork, sculpture, mixed media, textiles, wood, and more.

Join us at the Tour Kick-Off celebration at Tour Central and Preview Gallery (Gabriola Arts & Heritage Centre, 476 South Road) on Thursday, October 10th, 6:30pm, where artists will be on hand along with sample work from almost every artist on the Tour. Tour Central will be open all weekend from 10 am to 5 pm, with informed volunteers on hand.
