Watch and be a part of bringing art to life during MacEwan’s 50th anniversary celebrations from April 29 - 30, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Since March, artist and MacEwan alumni AJA Louden has been mentoring three students from three different MacEwan programs in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications: Aleesha 'Akram' Amjad (Studio Arts), Cristine Jimenez(Design) and Jaqueline Ohm (Communications). With AJA’s support, they have scaled their mural concepts up to 8-by 8-foot panels, which they will be painting live during the 50th Anniversary weekend.
Guided by the theme, Community Lifts Us Up, Aleesha, Cristine and Jaqueline have also created mural panels that invite contributions from members of our MacEwan community. AJA and his team of emerging artists will be set up on the second floor of Allard Hall in front of the north-facing windows, and on the second-floor atrium of the Robbins Health Centre from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m on Friday, April 29 - Saturday, April 30. These murals will be fabricated into giant mural cubes that will be displayed in the green space around the university during the summer months.
