Assu, an interdisciplinary artist whose work has exhibited around the world, is a member of Wei Wai Kum (Ligwiłda’xw) Nation and lives in Campbell River.
The Return to Water 2024 program features five works created by Assu:
The Last of Us is Assu’s first ever animated artwork. The continuously generating animation was created with collaborating animator Dan Beaule, and will screen throughout the program on CVAG’s LED wall facing the outdoor plaza.
Assertion of Sovereignty, Territorial Acknowledgements, Paradise Syndrome, and Sonny's NDN Kitsch Collection will all be installed inside the Gallery’s exhibition space.
The Return to Water 2024 program also includes Shifting Currents, a series of community activations presented in conjunction with community partners.
