A Room Listening to Itself
to
Open Space 510 Fort Street, 2nd floor, Victoria, British Columbia V8W 1E6
December 4, Noon - 5:00pm
In A Room Listening to Itself, sound is produced through amplification techniques which "make audible" the physical relationships between microphones, speaker cones, and the gallery’s surrounding acoustic environment.
As visitors walk through the room, they inadvertently modify its acoustic properties by creating and absorbing sound, modifying the audible relationship between microphone, speaker and acoustic space. Visitors become part of a feedback loop, both attending to and participating in the relationships found in the space as they move through it.
