"Abstration Into the Significant Line"

In 2013 the community of St Albert lost a talented artist and arts champion. Pat Wagensveld (1942–2013) was a prominent figure in the City, known for her tireless advocacy for the Arts, founding of Visual Arts St Albert Association and notably her own powerfully emotive artistic practice.

The solo exhibition Abstraction Into the Significant Line features works from Wagensveld’s final series of abstract landscape paintings. Rich, dense colour dominates these ‘organic abstractions’, the resulting appearance of depth and luminance creates an elemental quality, radiating emotion and displaying raw refinement.
