This unique installation turns the Grotto Gallery at The Reach into an immersive life-size colouring book.
Gooliaff’s project at The Reach has been transformed into an adult colouring book based on Greek mythology, historical legends from Japan and China, and stories from North American First Nations and the Saami people. Combining her interest in the universalizing aspects of these stories and the current popularity of colouring books, Gooliaff states, “In both the century-old tales and the renewed interest in colouring books, I see the desire to connect with something missing in our lives. I hope that the drawings in the exhibition and the colouring book can return audiences to a place of playful contemplation, with all the wonder and curiosity we experience as children.”
The Winter Colourland colouring book, sponsored in part by Globe Printers, will be available to the public for $15.00 with proceeds going to The Reach as part of their holiday fundraising efforts.
