Join us Sat. April 13th from 2 - 4 pm for the Opening Reception of 'Darkening Ground', a two-person exhibition of lens-based print and installation works by Angela Snieder & Morgan Wedderspoon. April 13 - 27: Camera Obscura installation by Angela Snieder.

With ecological unease informing their work, Snieder and Wedderspoon look to the ground, or even the dirt, as a malleable surface that both remembers and forgets, preserves and erodes. Revealing constructed natural spaces, Snieder’s prints and analog projections engage with questions of truth and artifice related to experience, perception and photo-based technologies. Wedderspoon’s prints feature an array of found objects collected from the ground and sample from various sources of text.

Angela Snieder is an artist working primarily in photo-based print media and installation. She completed her BFA at York University (2013) and her MFA in Printmaking at the University of Alberta (2017). She has exhibited nationally and internationally and was recently awarded 2nd prize at ‘The Contemporary Print’ exhibition at Print Austin. Angela currently lives in Edmonton Alberta, where she teaches printmaking at the University of Alberta and at the Society of Northern Alberta Print-Artists (SNAP).

Morgan Wedderspoon is an artist working in print media and found-object sculpture, including artist’s books and print-based installations. She is a graduate of Queen’s University (2009) and holds an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Alberta (2016). She is a recipient of the Special Award of the Rector of the Fine Arts Academy in Katowice (International Print Triennial Society, Krakòw, Poland) and a Research and Creation Grant (Canada Council for the Arts) for a current project with collaborator Angela Snieder. Wedderspoon currently teaches at the University of Alberta and works at the Society of Northern Alberta Print-Artists (SNAP).
