Fort Gallery, "After Apple-Picking," 2022
design by Alannah Clamp
Fort Gallery is thrilled to present the group exhibition After Apple-Picking, comprised of Fine Art Students from the Fraser Valley region. The exhibition is a showcase of new work featuring a range of mediums, styles and subject matter.
The title of the exhibition references a Robert Frost poem of the same name. In this quiet poem the protagonist works harvesting apples before the winter. It has day-to-day qualities of effort and labour which contrast Frost's better-known poem The Road Not Taken, whose protagonist takes a singular decisive action which concludes in the famous line 'I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.' This exhibition presents a different narrative to being an artist and explores the labour and commitment involved after a decision is made.
Selected artists: Calvin Bergen, Amy Bowler, Krystal Charlston, HyeonJeong Choi, Emily Goodbrand, Susan E. Johnston, Luke Pardy and Cobi Timmermans.
