Graffiti Art Programming and Studio 393 are pleased to announce the opening of Artx393 as part of our After School Leaders Radio & Podcast Mentorship Program.
Studio 393’s Radio & Podcast Mentorship participants have been meeting twice weekly since October, learning about photography, podcasting, media, beat-making, and career-building opportunities. Starting the program as strangers, they forged a community of their own while meeting with curators, educators, broadcasters, journalists, authors, and musicians. The end result is a series of youth-led podcasts; a virtual exhibit hosted on Instagram; and a public art exhibit installed at The Forks, in the CNR rail line underpass. Artx393 features the work of 5 youth artists, who answer the questions of “what youth were doing in 2020, amongst a time of isolation and shift to virtual connections?” This project is funded through the Province of Manitoba’s After School Leaders program.
February 11: Artx393 virtual exhibition goes live on Instagram.
February 11: Premier of 4 podcasts featuring interviews with Tasha Spillet (author of Surviving The City 1 & 2), Caid Jones (MC and producer, and alumni of Studio 393 programming), Begonia (songwriter/vocalist), Beatmakers discussion w/ Skratch Bastid (beatmaker), and Malcolm Jay (beatmaker) https://soundcloud.com/brokenheadphones393
