This exhibition runs concurrent with Fashion Plates by Veronica Funk ASA.

I never studied philosophy but was involved in a discussion group which was founded in 1989 by Petra von Morstein. We had twice monthly meetings.Von Morstein’s interests were to bridge the gap between the ivory tower of Academia and the average person on the street, so to speak- or like Socrates- speaking in the open market place to common folks. “Nietsche would replace the spirit of science with the conception of existence and the world as an aesthetic phenomenon. Tragedy would become propagandistic. It is precisely the tragic myth that has to convince us that even the ugly and disharmonic are part of an artistic game that the will in the eternal amplitude of its pleasure plays with itself.” In brief: ” We have Art in order that we may not perish through truth” (Quote from Encyclopedia Britannica.) Philosophers are telling us that the necessity to find the ‘self’ is of prime importance in life. Only then does one have the aptitude to cope with life intelligently. This intense and full engagement in all aspects of living will bring fulfillment and happiness and give us strength for magnanimity towards the failings of others and the self. This Contemplation of life will enrich and complete us.

I used colors red, yellow and orange to convey meaning to the viewer. Passion and Compassion is for red, Spirituality means yellow and orange signifies Courage. It takes Courage to maintain a steady love, accept Spiritual guidance and challenge to deal effectively  with life’s controversy. Beside the use of color is the ‘word’. Poetry is a powerful communicator and I made great use of it in this project and put more emphasis on loving rather than hatred. Our world today is ruled by the ‘word’, mainly because of new technology, like texting, face-book and twitter, for better or worse. - Asta Dale
