"Radical Changes"
Barbara Arnold, "Radical Changes," Acrylic, Mixed Media on Wood Panel, 42" x 32".
In Earth, Barbara Arnold presents a series of artworks that are inspired by the dynamism and sublime beauty of our planet and its natural forces. Her paintings adopt a bird’s eye view, inviting the viewer to observe from above, the power and movement of Mother Nature at work. Abstract in design, these paintings exude an organic energy. Warm colours flow across her wood panels, creating a sense of harmony that is also tinged with a chaotic, curiosity-inducing tension. Through a combined process of spontaneity and material exploration, Barbara creates her mixed media works using acrylic, oil, wax, inks, and antiquing processes.
Born in the Netherlands, Barbara immigrated to Canada in 1981. After traveling extensively throughout Europe, the Americas, and Asia, as well as working in the fields of interior design and photography, Barbara embarked on a spiritual search which led to her present career in painting. Barbara has completed courses at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, as well as trained privately with a number of established local artists.
Please join us for the opening reception on Thursday October 18, 6-9:30pm.
