"Bird Quartet" by Roy Green

Open Space partners once again with the City of Victoria for Commercial Alley’s second installation, which features four new works by painter, performance artist, and poet Roy Green. The artist's series not only captures the spirit of some of the island’s favourite winged cousins but also speaks to humanity’s timeless preoccupation with flight and admiration of birds, evidenced throughout the histories of art, symbolism, and spirituality. Green's birds, iconic and indigenous to Vancouver Island, include the great blue heron, the pileated woodpecker, the rufous hummingbird, and the red-winged blackbird.
